Saca tu ticket, acomódate bien en tu butaca de cine y prepárate para lo que te viene encima. Una obra artística de sobresalientes proporciones, en donde las excelentes capacidades de sus creadores, su saber hacer, la inspiración en el séptimo arte y finalmente el poder se unen en una misma creación de gigantescas proporciones. La obra que vas a disfrutar es el cuarto paso vital de la formación Netz, un nuevo golpe de efecto o álbum, que como se hiciera con su predecesores toma nuevamente el nombre de Werk pero en esta ocasión con su lógica numeración 04 y con su sobrenombre “Exit Märchenland”.

La calidad musical de Netz como ya he dicho anteriormente es superior, y lo afirmo por que se trata de creadores no cerrados a un estilo. Sus capacidades les llevan a explorar dentro de un mismo concepto musical su variedad y el eclecticismo. Esta pluralidad de estilos es fácil denotarla en su nuevo álbum “Exit Märchenland”, un disco en donde saben domar cada canción, refundiéndola en otros estilos y aportándole a cada una de ellas una esencia diferente y distinta de su predecesora. Por este motivo no es fácil definir su personalidad en un solo género, ya que a veces podríamos hablar de Electro, Technnopop, IDM, Electro Body Music, Experimental o incluso Industrial. Este amplio abanico de géneros es la imprimación que se mezcla en la música de Netz y en su nueva y magnífica criatura.

Sus diversas personalidades les permiten crear sobresalientes y talentosos temas como el que da nombre al disco y que podrás encontrar en dos excelentes versiones a lo largo de los trece temas que componen el álbum. Sus inteligentes ritmos, su variedad vocal distorsionada y robotizada, sus melodías, sus samplers, sus ruidos y au experimentación hacen que cada corte sea inconfundible y diferente.

Pero Netz es algo más que música, sus textos luchan por expresar aptitudes y sentimientos ante nuestra sociedad, nuestros gobiernos o nosotros mismos, todos ellos influenciados por las peliculas que dan nombre a algunos de los temas. Quede aquí tan sólo una muestra de lo que quieren decirnos: „No More War, No more Hate, No More Blood for Oil, No More playing police games…“ Con esto, creo que todo queda dicho.

La formación, para la publicación de su cuarta criatura, ha optado por abandonar el sello discográfico Artofact Records con el que editó sus dos últimos discos, para opotar por la edición en el sello Sonic X, un sello reconocido en Europa especialmente por publicar los trabajos de otras formaciones comoSkorbut, Septron, Jonas Seltsam, Revolution By Night o Glenn Love.

“Exit Märchenland” está recogido en formato cd en cubierta de plástico con un amplísimo libreto a 20 páginas. Un libreto con un trabajo artístico que destaca por un llamativo uso de tres colores y formas básicas sin detalle.

Netz might not be a hugely familiar name within the European ebm, possibly due to their infrequent releases (only four in sixteen years to be exact), but it is quality, not quantity that counts. And the band have that in abundance. It is immediately obvious that the band’s main influence is Kraftwerk with the majority of the sounds and structures on ‚Exit Märchenland‘ owing to their minimalistic techno style.

However where Netz excel is in turning that „kling-klang“ style into driving dance floor tracks by instilling modern idm beats in their songs. This also gives the band plenty of scope to play with their own formula. Some bands feel very much in the vein of the stripped back Kraftwek sound like ‚Metropolis‘, ‚Hey Sam‘, ‚Emotionsmaschine‘ and ‚Love Story‘. However the other end of the spectrum contains some exquisite dance floor fodder in the forms of ‚Exit Märchenland (Bionik)‘, ‚War Of The Worlds‘, ‚Exit Märchenland (Mechanik)‘ and ‚Germany Calling (Mirrored)‘.

NETZ offers upp a record built on minimalistic and very cold sound. Some of the tunes on this album contains quite annoying sound. However it’s a fun experiment and the obvious influences from Kraftwerk and in some cases i would also guess video game music makes it kinda fun to listen to. It’s probably not an album that will make it out on a party or even a club dance floor. However it will probably find its way into some collections since its quite fun to listen to and also a quite interesting and unique album. source: musictestlab

Zwanzig Jahre ist es mittlerweile her, dass „Werk 01“ von Netz bei Flatline Records erschienen ist. Sänger Angelo Ferroni, Thomas Leeb und Felix Baumgärtner veröffentlichen im Schnitt alle fünf Jahre Alben und sind 2012 bei Nummer vier angekommen. „Exit Märchenland“ ist ein Konzeptalbum, das sich mit dem Thema Märchen auseinandersetzt. Wobei aus Sicht des Trios Filme die aktuellen Märchen sind.

Und so fallen eher die Namen von Filmklassikern ins Auge, als Zitate aus Märchen auffallen. Nach einem instrumentalen Start wird man mit „Exit Märchenland“ auf eine falsche Fährte gesetzt. Mich erinnert dieser Song an den deutschen Untergrund-Electro der Neunziger und er klingt irgendwie nach Les Berrtas. Was schon ganz charmant ist. Im Anschluss wird aber wieder klassisches Netz-Futter geliefert. Viele Kraftwerk-Zitate, kühle Elektronik und verfremdeter Gesang. Das alles eingebetet in Filmsamples und Soundtrack-Atmosphäre.

Anspieltips wären das melodiöse „Love Story“ und „Der Menschenfeind“. Dabei ist auch ein Wiedersehen mit „Dune“ von „Werk 01“ aus dem Jahr 1992. Zum Abschluss gibt es noch eine Version von „Exit Märchenland“ und eine Coverversion. Netz sind immer noch anders und fallen damit schön aus dem Rahmen. In den Songs auf „Exit Märchenland“ steckt viel Detailarbeit und das Zuhören ist nie langweilig. Was aber fehlt ist das gewisse Etwas. Am Ende können mich die dreizehn Tracks nicht fesseln und so bleibt das quasi der Musik entsprechend nüchterne Urteil „nett“. Das Kunst- und Musikprojekt NETZ geistert bereits seit vielen vielen Jahren durch die Szene, macht sich aber rar und beglückt die darbende Anhängerschaft nur sehr spärlich mit neuen Releases. Nun ist es wieder soweit und „Exit Märchenland“ steht bereit. Wobei das titelgebende Märchenland sinnbildlich für die Traumfabriken der bewegten Bilder zu sehen ist. Klassiker der Filmgeschichte stehen nämlich Pate für diese vertonte Hommage an Hollywood und Babelsberg.

NETZ vertonen Inhalte und ausgelöste Emotionen. Dies geschieht sehr ambivalent und strukturiert. „Exit Märchenland“ als elektronisches Album bietet reichlich Facetten und Stil-Kunstgriffe, die es zu erforschen und entdecken gilt. Die bandbreite reicht von klassischem EBM, Minimal Wave bis hin zu experimentellen Soundcollagen, die an YELLO oder KRAFTWERK erinnern. Insofern ist „Exit Märchenland“ weniger ein Tanzboden-Bediener, sondern eher ein Werk zum Zuhören.  Dezent verwendete Sampels aus den jeweiligen Filmen runden die Kompositionen ab. Erst nach mehrern Durchläufen erfasst der Hörer, wieviel Liebe zum Detail die Soundtüftler von NETZ in dieses Werk gesteckt haben. Man erahnt, wie den Herren das Thema der Scheibe am Herzen liegt. „Exit Märchenland“ ist jedenfalls nicht nur für Filmfans eine interessante Sache, sondern auch alle andere Freunde etwas sperriger elektronischer Klänge dürften an der Scheibe Gefallen finden. source: schwarzertau

NETZ präsentieren mit „Exit Märchenland“ bereits ihr 4tes Album und ich muss zu meiner Schande gestehen das mir die Band bis dato überhaupt nicht bekannt war. Die musikalischen Schwerpunkte sind experimenteller Natur. Eine echte Genrezuordnung macht die Band einem so schwer wie möglich. IDM Einflüsse finden sich synchron neben Minimal Wave und EBM Beats und ab und an spielen auch Kraftwerkartige Sounds eine Rolle.

In der Summe entsteht dabei anspruchsvolle Klangkost, die den Hörer fordert. Leicht verdauliches Clubfutter ist das auf jeden Fall nicht. Eventuell könnte der Titeltrack noch hier und da mal einen kleinen Clubauftritt hinlegen, aber Exit Märchenland ist ein Gesamtkunstwerk und sollte auch als solches Verstanden werden. NETZ fordern den Hörer.

Wer keine Lust hat sich mit den Songs auseinanderzusetzten und sich „hinein zu hören“ sollte einen großen Bogen um diese CD machen. Das man eine „Kamera“ auf dem Cover wiederfindet kommt nicht von ungefähr. Mit Titeln wie „Clockwork Orange“, „War Of The Worlds“ oder „Blechtrommel“  gibt es eine Hommage an Filmklassiker. „Exit Märchenland“ taugt sicher nicht für jeden, wer aber Experimente abseits jeder Norm schätz wird hier vielleicht das Album des Jahres wiederfinden. source: Uselinks

Mensch, so schließt sich der Kreis, vor vielen vielen Jahren habe ich NETZ (soweit ich mich erinnern kann, hießen sie früher noch DAS NETZ) als Vorgruppe gesehen und ich musste sofort ihre EP kaufen, die begeistern konnte. Nun halte ich ihr inzwischen 4. Album in Händen, seitdem ist also viel passiert. Einen kleinen experimentellen Hang hatte man schon damals, war aber dennoch eher unter „deutscher Electropop“ einzuordnen.

Heute haben sich die Schwerpunkte geändert, jetzt ist es eher experimenteller Minimal Wave (DIE FORM lässt grüßen), der auch starke IDM-Einflüsse aufweist, jedenfalls soweit man in dieser Konstellation davon reden kann.

Man hat es mit anspruchsvoller Kost zu tun, die zudem noch gerne mit Sprach-Samples aufgepeppt wird und immer noch ein wenig nach KRAFTWERK klingt. Das mag der normale Hörer als „schwer im Magen liegend“ bezeichnen. Einen herausragenden Titel kann ich nicht nennen, auch der Einsatz in Clubs ist eher unwahrscheinlich (außer vielleicht der Titeltrack), aber man sollte sich beim NETZ eher auf das Kunstwerk als Ganzes konzentrieren, denn es fordert einen regelrecht heraus, sich mit dem Album zu beschäftigen, sich mit den Eigenarten und dem künstlerischen Anspruch auseinander zu setzen.

Eine gewisse Affinität zu Filmen besteht ebenfalls, Titeln wie „Die Blechtrommel“ oder „Clockwork Orange“ konvertiert man ins eigene Universum, was auch perfekt zum Band-Ansatz passt.

Ich hoffe, es fühlen sich Leute von der Beschreibung angesprochen, lasst euch ruhig auf das Experiment ein, mich hat es gut unterhalten, trifft also meinen Geschmack. Meine Songempfehlung ist „Der Menschenfeind“. Ach übrigens, das Cover hat ein tolles Artwork. source: terrorverlag

Coming to us from Canadian label ArtOfFact, Netz presents Misgiving Transmitter. The third part in the Netz Werk(1) trilogy. Misgiving Transmitter is a new evolution in the Netz sound: bleepy technoid beats are met with a true electro sequencing and modernist poetics. Fans of the stranger side of life will be at home here. Netz’s true experimentation is in full bloom! A conglomeration of electronic influences ranging from noize textures to some Kraftwerk influenced experimental electronic music as well as industrial and darkwave overtones washed in drum ‘n bass, techstep and IDM qualities.

The introduction to the world of Netz had this writer somewhat confused as the untitled opener to this CD was straight up noize material. I was certain the disc would be a journey into uncharted electronic sound manipulations when in fact that was far from what I listened to. A total of 21 tracks easily mistaken for 19 tracks as a lot of the fills between tracks are short noize mixed with spoken word that to me hurts the overall sound found on Misgiving Transmitter, but leaves me also to wonder what subliminal intent can be found behind the reasoning for including such material that is far from the main content of the disc.

Control comes in as track 2, drastically changing the uneasy surroundings you just got prepared for to completely throw you off to the dance beats and arpeggiated rhythms. A big change from the opening introduction elements of futurepop mixed with vocoded vocals, eurodance textures and at times hip hop drums hits. The meshing of styles creates a great vibe and certainly shows Netz quite capable of well orchestrated dance music construction. Lightfighter comes after a brief blast of noize and can be described as another genre bender. Elements of Industrial mixed with IDM and drum ‘n bass. Song composition reminds me of some early Pigface material. This track leads one to believe that a mix of different genres make a great listen in the hands of the right people.

Erlkonig slows it down a bit and creeps in with some ambience that changes tempo and veers from ambient to darkwave with additions of world music ethnicity. I rather find this track a disappointment after the tracks that preceded this one. Nothing special here. By this point in the disc I do start to get irritated. In between each track is a few seconds of noize and spoken word which really kills the vibe you just got going and really takes points away. I know the band is going for a unique and different style here. If there is a hidden meaning behind it all I am certainly clueless and am left wondering why.

Schnee comes in after another noise byte which is more like a vinyl record with a big ass scratch in the middle of a track you’re grooving on. Schnee is a great track and maintains a downtempo vibe mixed with drum ‘n bass structures. A dimly lit room and some sticky greenbud would work well with this one. Sweet and mellow a beautiful track indeed. Collectio comes next and is composed more on the experimental side. Old school drum machine textures, bass drops and vocal processing as if done by Satan himself. At least what he may sound like in a B-movie. Reminiscent of a band whose name escapes me, but I find this track isn’t worth the headache of trying to figure it out.

Hate follows suit and also follows another annoying byte. Now don’t get me wrong: I like avante garde material, but am wondering why the quality of material is diminishing the deeper I get into this disc. A mass of material that to me doesn’t make for an eclectic mix, but more of a misguided loopfest. Unshuld mysteriously creeps in with an old school industrial style and gives one a recollection of Laibach B-sides or many of the German fetish industrial material of the early 90’s. Finally a track to bring the mix back to a tolerable vibe. I like this track a lot and could even find myself spinning this one on one of my guest DJ appearances.

Stellungskrieg takes a delightful front and center mixing manic beats with heavy industrial bass hits. Veering from beat heavy powernoize to off the chain drum ‘n bass textures. Another solid track. Keeping the main vibe in check.

T.O.T. chimes in at track 17 and opens with a nice retro wave flavor. The use of old school tones and synth leads very reminiscent of days gone by. Blutraush crashes through the front door at 2am with beat blasts from hell. Distorted drum beats that maintain a desirable flow. Very much in the euro industrial vein of things. From manic to melodic at the blink of an eye. Very cool indeed.

Although the CD has some issues with the use of material in as far as killing a specific vibe which can indeed be found if one takes the more desirable material and pops it onto another disc, it does manage to contain a little something for everyone with eclectic tastes. An interesting mix of musical styles. There is a general sense of experimentation here and with all the eclectic hybrids of modern electronic music, you get the good the bad and the ugly and this CD has all three. Many of the title tracks can be seen as influential to the next wave of electronic advancement that approaches in the next decade. The combination of styles shows how bands are changing with the times and also how some may still be finding a sound the masses can relate to. If you enjoy material that’s not for everyone then this ones for you. source: legendsmagazine

Wir sitzen am schmutzstarrenden Strand einer postapocalyptischen Hafenstadt, während das graugrüne Wasser über rostige Metallteile bleckt, trinken ekelig, pinkfarbene Drinks die uns betäuben und hören NETZ. Vielleicht ist es eine Art Radioprogramm. In dem industrielle Soundkollagen ebenso herüberwehen, wie Erinnerungen an längst vergangene Zeiten, als SCHUBERT noch den „Erlkönig“ vertont hat. Oder wir wiegen uns entspannt, lakonisch zu der Bemerkung „das alles bergab geht“, wie wir gleichsam für kurze Momente aufspringen und uns die Realität aus dem Kopf tanzen.

Nein, wir sind nicht wütend oder verzweifelt. Die Welt geht nach und nach zu Grunde, und NETZ haben den ultimativen Soundtrack dazu gemacht. Ein futuristisches Klanggemälde, aus Industrial, Electro, zarten Meloieansätzen, komplexen Lyrics und ineinander verwobenen, konzeptionellen Bildern. Diese CD ist nichts für Tanzmäuse, oder melancholische Träumer. Sie ist eher der letzte, ultimative Aufruf, die Tage die uns auf diesem Planeten noch verbleiben, zu nutzen. Resümee zu ziehen, sich an Vergangenes zu erinnern und ansonsten zu wissen, das die Zukunft so kalt, so dunkel, so mechanisch und emotionslos wie diese Musik wird. Ich empfehle diverse „Cyberpunk“ Romane und diese CD zusammen zu konsumieren.
